2nd Sundaradevi Sandesh Bagmati Music Award – 2073 honors Nepali artistes
Composer Shakti Ballav awarded with Lifetime Achievement Award
KATHMANDU: Honoring senior composer Shakti Ballav with Lifetime Achievement Award and awarding other artistes including Nepali singers, composers and lyricists in different categories, the ‘Second Sundaradevi Sandesh Bagmati Music Award – 2073’ was held on May 28 in Nuwakot. It was a celebration of music where artistes from Nepali contemporary and folk music were honored.
The Award was organised by Sundaradevi Sandesh Saptahik Nuwakot with the slogan ‘Nepali songs and music is our identity, and to honor artistes through media institutions is our campaign’. At the grand ceremony, Ballav was also awarded with cash prize worth Rs 11,111 for his contribution to the Nepali music industry.
The Award was divided into two broad categories — Audhunik and Lok which included 15 categories in total. Best and deserving artistes from audhinik and lok music world won awards in different categories.
For Audhunik category, senior lyricist Dr Navin Adhikari won Best Lyricist, singer Sanjeev Pradhan won Best Male Singer, singer Sharmila Shrestha won Best Female Singer, composer Praladh Bogati won Best Composer and director Nirmal Sharma won Best Music Video Director among others.
Meanwhile in lok category, singer Ram Thapa Shishir won Best Male Singer, Uma Shrestha won Best Female Singer, Udha Karki won Best Lyricist and Madhab Thapa won Best Composer among others. Moreover, there were more awards presented to the artistes at the event. The Public Choice Award went to Shobha Tripathi, Encouragement Award was awarded to Miraj Koirala while Jury Award went to Amrita Magar. At the event, comedians and actors Jitu Nepal, Sitaram Katwal and Kunjana Ghimire along with director Ujjwal Ghimire were also honored.
