Bhim Birag

Senior Poet and Lyricist Bhim Birag भिम बिराग (Bhim Bahadur Maharjan) was born on 28 January 1935 at Maisthan of Birgunj. His well known contributions to Nepali literature include ‘Dukheko Indreni’, anthology of lyrics ‘Atripta Sparsha’, collection of poems ‘Tato Sushkera’ and a collection of his short stories ‘Aath Tukre Badal.’
He was honoured with several awards for his contribution to Nepali music and literature, including Chinnalata Puraskar (2043 BS), Nepal Rastriya Prativa Puraskar (2056 BS) and Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu 4th class (2027 BS).
Bhim Birag was passed away 3rd of March 2012 at the age of 78 while undergoing treatment at Patan Hospital, Lalitpur.
